What we store

If you create an account, FootyDB stores:

• Your username and email address.
• A hash of your password; never the password itself. If you signed in with Google we store the Google account identifier instead, and never see a password at all.
• The things you create on the site: ratings, reviews, helpful votes, score predictions, watchlist entries, followed clubs, and match chat messages.
• The date your account was created.

Your username, your reviews and ratings, and your chat messages are public. They appear on match pages and on your profile at /user/your-name. Your email address is not shown to anyone else.

Cookies

Signing in sets one cookie, footydb_auth, which keeps you signed in for 30 days. It is httpOnly, so page scripts cannot read it. A second short-lived cookie carries a CSRF token that stops other sites submitting forms as you. Neither is used for tracking, and the site does not work signed-in without them.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count page views, and it is off until you agree to it. If you decline, the Google script is never loaded. Your choice is stored locally in your browser; clearing site data will make the question come back. Nothing you rate, review or type into chat is sent to Google.

Third parties

• Google — optional sign-in, and analytics if you allow it.

We do not sell data, and there are no advertising or social tracking scripts on the site.

Deleting your account

To delete your account, and thereby delete your data, navigate to /settings and find "Delete account". Otherwise, ask us and we will delete your account and everything attached to it. Reviews are removed along with the account rather than left behind under an anonymous name.
